Walcott Athletics
Beginning in 7th grade the state of Iowa sanctions sports in schools. State funds are used to pay for the sports so they set the rules that need to be followed for participation, here are some:
- Students must have a sports physical which is good for 12 months.
- Students must have a concussion awareness form filled out each school year
- Both of which are collected and filed in Mr. Huntley’s PE office
- Students must have those turned in before they can be on the team or practice
There are specific forms that the state says must be used. It is very important you use the correct form or you will not be on the team until the correct one is used.
Students in 7th grade and 8th grade can participate in football, volleyball, girls basketball, boys basketball, and track and field at Walcott School. Students can also participate in cross country, wrestling, and swimming and diving on a District wide intermediate team.
